Hello!

I’m Caitie Matta, founder of Talkeetna Community Health and Wellness. I started this practice in 2026 with a simple but deeply held vision: to empower parents and strengthen the resources it takes to raise healthy people in a supportive, connected community.

My background is in birthwork, labor and delivery, lactation, and community-based perinatal and postpartum education. Through this work, I’ve seen how much strength parents already carry—and how much easier it can be to navigate pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood when people feel informed and have access to the support they need.

I believe health and wellness are about more than individual care. They are also about connection, education, confidence, and having people around you who understand what you’re going through. My goal is to create a welcoming space where parents and families feel heard, respected, and empowered to make the choices that are right for them.

Talkeetna Community Health and Wellness is rooted in the belief that we are healthier when we care for one another. I’m honored to be part of the journey and to help build a stronger, more supported community—one family at a time.

Lactation Services

I believe lactation care is most effective when it meets you where you are—literally and figuratively. Providing care in your own home allows us to understand your unique environment, routines, and challenges and create a practical care plan that works in real life, including the middle of the night when traditional offices may not be available.

We can meet prenatally to prepare for your feeding journey, or you can reach out after your baby arrives when questions, challenges, or unexpected changes arise. Wherever you are in your journey, we can work together to create a plan that supports your goals.

If an in-home visit doesn’t feel right for you, I can offer care in my small, comfortable cabin office just off Mile 3 of the Spur. Wherever we meet, my role is to provide personalized, supportive care that helps you feel confident and move toward your feeding goals.

Newborn Care Class

This class covers the basics of caring for your newborn, along with practical things to consider as you prepare for your birthing time.

We’ll begin with a discussion-style presentation covering essential newborn care and common questions, followed by hands-on practice with swaddling, diapering, baby carriers, and other common baby products.

Whether this is your first baby or it’s been a while since you’ve cared for a newborn, this class is a welcoming opportunity to build confidence, ask questions, gain hands-on experience, and connect with other parents preparing to welcome a baby around the same time.

Come ready to learn, practice, and connect as you prepare for this exciting new chapter.

Feeding Quick Start

This class will cover basic infant feeding guidance, latch checklist, pump considerations, cleaning hacks, and safe bottle management. This is not a breastfeeding specific class but includes elements for all infant feeding.

Coming soon!

I could speak forever about the importance of cycles and circles for women. We are meant to connect, lean on one another, raise children in community, and honor the changes and transitions of life with ceremony. I want this kind of ancestral sisterhood for myself, and for each of you—a space to gather, share, listen, celebrate, and feel supported through every season.

Stay tuned for upcoming gatherings, circles, and ceremonies, or email me if you have something in mind. I would love to hear what kind of community you’re longing for and explore how we might create it together.

Billing

At this time, payment is accepted through the Jane app or cash pay. I can provide you with a superbill for lactation services to provide to your insurance for reimbursement. If cost is a barrier to care, please reach out about the RC Fund.

Rebecca Costello is a friend, mentor, colleague, and has opened many doors for me in my journey as a provider and as a parent. This fund is to honor her generosity and love. Its purpose is to offset the cost for those who otherwise would not be able to receive care and meet their feeding goals. If you would like to contribute to the fund, there will be an option on your invoice in the Jane app.
